Mr. Charles Ho is Chairman of Sing Tao News Corporation Limited. Mr. Ho acquired the Sing Tao Group in 2001 with an aim of developing it into a leading media corporation serving global Chinese communities. Since then, the Group has significantly extended the scope and scale of its media business, and has become recognised as a major force in the global media arena.
During the 1970s and 1980s, Mr. Ho worked for a number of international investment banks where he gained considerable experience in international business and finance in the United States. Mr. Ho returned to Hong Kong in the late 1990s to develop his family business and started a number of major investment projects in the PRC. Over the years, Mr. Ho has successfully built up an extensive business and political network in the PRC, which has laid a strong foundation for the Group's long-term development.
Mr. Ho is a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Mr. Ho served on the Selection Committee for the First Government of the Hong Kong SAR and the Election Committee for the Second Government of the Hong Kong SAR, and is a member of the Third Term and Forth Term Chief Executive Election Committee. Mr. Ho is awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2014 to recognize his contribution to the society. In addition, Mr. Ho is a member of the Standing Committee of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, an Honorary General Committee Member of The Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, an economic consultant of Shandong Provincial Government of the PRC, an Honorary Trustee of Peking University, and a Trustee and Guest Professor of University of International Business and Economics in the PRC. Mr. Ho is also an independent non-executive director of Shun Tak Holdings Limited.
