Sing Tao Daily Organizes a Series of Marketing Events

"Investment Weekly" has always been highly regarded since its launch by Sing Tao Daily. Apart from being bundled with Sing Tao Daily on Monday, starting from mid August, a retail version was also made available on Sunday to better serve readers' and advertisers' needs.

Sing Tao Daily's Education Section has published a number of booklets for students. The redemption of HKALE and HKCEE Guidebooks was met with overwhelming response. In addition, the Primary Schools Parent's Guidebook and Seminar were also highly commended by kindergarten parents.

"Property Browser" also reached new heights in circulation through "Summer Special" promotional activities. One of the highlights was the free supplement "2006 New Property Guide", which was much sought after by readers in the property industry as well as prospective property buyers.

Headline Daily and Express Post Celebrate 1st Anniversary

 

According to Oracle Added Value Report (May 2006), Headline Daily has became the No.1 free newspaper in Hong Kong in less than one year after its launch. With comprehensive content, a high quality reader's base and a wide distribution network, Headline Daily's readership reached 1,269,000 and is highly acclaimed by advertisers. To celebrate its 1st anniversary, Headline Daily rolled out "The HK No.1 Free Newspaper" advertising campaign and a series of marketing events to further reinforce its leading position in the market.

Leader of the Year 2006 - Hong Kong's Annual Event

Overwhelming Response to The Standard at the Hong Kong Book Fair

The new 3-in-1 package, The Standard, The Student Standard and Goodies achieved substantial subscription sales at the Hong Kong Book Fair during July 19-24. In order to arouse awareness on liberal studies content, an eye-catching display tower and banners were set up inside the booths of Magazine International. Parents showed great interest in the newly published "Liberal Studies Teaching Kits" as well as The Standard newspapers, with well-received subscription enquiries.

The Standard Launches Interactive Listening and Reading / Liberal Studies Website for Students

The Standard launched an interactive listening & reading / liberal Studies website for readers of Goodies and The Student Standard in the new school semester. As an interactive learning channel, the site provides daily news and features, read by native speakers, to primary and secondary students. In addition, the vocabulary section is updated on a daily basis and students may also access the liberal studies archive through their personal account. The Standard Publishes "Offshore Financial Services Guide 2006-07"

The Standard published the "Offshore Financial Services Guide 2006-07" as a tool book for entrepreneurs investing abroad. This 152-page Guide provided comprehensive information on 25 offshore centres such as Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Hong Kong and Labuan, including a complete overview of each offshore centre written by specialists, a detailed analysis of major political, legal and tax issues as well as directory on key government departments and professional bodies in each jurisdiction.

East Week Unveils the First "Maximum Luxury's Choice"

East Week takes the lead in organizing the first "Maximum Luxury's Choice" on August 22 at IFC Lumiere, in recognizing the most successful brands and products of the year. At the award presentation ceremony, 15 awards were presented by esteemed individuals including Ms. Qiqi, Mr. Dennis Law, Mr. Derek Yeung and Ms. Carmen Choi.

One of the I.T. largest annual event, "Hong Kong Computer & Communications Festival 2006" ("HKCCF"), was held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during August 25-28. This year, PC Market was honored to be invited by The Chamber of Hong Kong Computer Industry as the co-organizer for the "Era of High Definition - IT Bidding", offering over 200 visitors with special privileges. The event was well attended and attracted a record number of 320,000 participants. Jet Celebrates its 4th Anniversary and Hosts "JET Icon" Award Presentation

Sing Tao Publishing Summer Activities Keep Rolling

In conjunction with the Hong Kong Book Fair on July 19-24, Sing Tao Publishing exhibited over 200 titles and offered a number of new books including "Cars", "The Story Behind English Idiom", "Next Station - Sapporo", "City Science", "Trivia - Public Affairs 4", "Master So Art", as well as the best-selling titles, "Primary School Guide" and "Financial Management". With readers' support, Sing Tao Publishing recorded favourable results at this year's Book Fair.

In addition to participating in the Book Fair, Sing Tao Publishing also joined hands with other organizations in carrying out a series of parenting and civic education activities, including the "Bobo Asset Plus - Hong Kong Children Go Competition", co-organized with Bank of Communications, and the "Living in Harmony" exhibition held at the Book Fair. Sing Tao News Corporation Co-organizes "Shanxi Promotion of Talent Fair Hong Kong 2006"

"Shanxi Promotion of Talent Fair Hong Kong 2006", organized by The People's Government of Shanxi Province and co-organized by Sing Tao News Corporation, was held on July 25 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Being one of the largest recruitment events ever held outside Shanxi Province, Director of Personnel Department of Shanxi Province Xing Yanfen said, "This recruitment covers 200 investment projects, most of which are pillar industries of Shanxi, and some positions offer an annual salary of up to RMB 1 million."

The Fair was officiated by Mr Stephen Ip, The Secretary for Economic Development and Labour, together with many special guests from education and business sectors. With an aim in strengthening the co-operation with Hong Kong through talent exchange, an agreement was signed between Sing Tao News Corporation and the Personnel Department of Shanxi Province. The Fair was highly successful and well attended by talents from Hong Kong.

Strengthens Content

EDUplus was renamed EDUplus.com.hk in July with a new logo and a "Work and Learn" slogan, to signify that working and learning are closely interrelated. To further reflect its philosophy, contents have been enhanced by including new sections such as "Continuous Professional Development (CPD)" and "Workplace Competency", together with "Career Advice Q&A", hosted by professionals and scholars, as well as "2U", tailor-made for Associate Degree and Higher Diploma students, with contents written in a simple and light-hearted approach, providing education and career planning information.

In addition, EDUplus.com.hk will continue to publish education related books. Apart from the monthly "Education Series", EDUplus.com.hk also launched "Associate Degree Guide" in summer, offering programs overview and admission requirement of tertiary institutions; interviews of principals, employers and Associate Degree students in sharing their knowledge and experience. Update from Global China Circulation & Distribution

In this year's Hong Kong Book Fair, Global China Circulation & Distribution (GCCD) joined hands with its sponsors to promote reading culture by exhibiting a range of quality books. In addition, GCCD cooperated with Cat Store to present "Our Happy Moment" T-shirts at the fair. With visitors' support, GCCD achieved satisfactory sales results.

Sing Tao Overseas at a Glance

This summer, Sing Tao Daily's overseas offices participated in a variety of events to promote Chinese culture. Sing Tao Daily's New York office, being the exclusive Chinese print media sponsor, took part in the "Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival" in August which is its third year in this event. Sing Tao Daily's London office participated in the "2006 Ascot Hong Kong Day". The horseracing event, organized by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, is an annual event for the local Chinese community. In addition, Sydney office also co-organized the "2006 National Chinese Eisteddfod" to promote Chinese culture to local residents and other ethnic groups. The event was attended by over 3,100 participants.

Sing Tao News Corporation Presents Long Services Awards

The "Long Services Award Presentation Ceremony 2006" was held on August 1. In celebrating Sing Tao Daily's 68th anniversary, 49 staff were presented with Long Services Award, for their service with the Group for over 10 years. Among the awardees, Mr. Jason Ho, Financial Controller of the Group said, "I have gone through different stages of the Group's development for the past 10 years, and each stage brought different experiences and exposures. The continuing development of the Group has provided employees with opportunities to widen their professional vision." At the ceremony, Mr. Lo Wing Hung, Chief Executive Officer of the Group said, "The success of the Group would not have been possible without the valuable contribution of our staff and I would like to take this opportunity to express my greatest appreciation for their continuous support, and encourage them to keep up their efforts to build a more prosperous future for the Group."

Sing Tao News Corporation Reports Interim Results 2006

Sing Tao News Corporation Limited announced its interim results on September 5. The consolidated revenue increased by 9.6% to HK$937.3 million and profit attributable to equity holders increased to HK$73.9 million, a growth of 70%. Excluding exceptional and one-off items, the Group's profit for the Period was HK$56.8 million, representing an increase of 172%. The Group also declared an interim dividend of HK$0.02 per share to shareholders.

「星島出版」暑期活動停不了

為配合7月19至24日舉行的香港書展,「星島出版」展出逾二百本書籍,包括最新推出的《反斗車王》、《100英文成語故事》、《下一站北海道》、《城市科學》、《時事冷知識4》、《蘇法融禪藝》,及數度賣至斷貨的《升小選校全攻略》及《理財一刻不能等》。得到讀者的支持,「星島出版」於今屆書展錄得理想成績。

《EDUplus進修指南》已於7月正式改名為EDUplus.com.hk。除全新商標外,更以「Work & Learn」為標語,象徵工作與進修兩者息息相關,而EDUplus.com.hk之新增欄目則進一步體現此理念,如「專業人士進修CPD」及「職場上位技能」等等,其中最受注目的有由業界精英和學者主持的「職場增值專家Q&A」,與及專門為中學畢業生、副學士及高級文憑課程學生而設的「2U」,皆以簡明及輕鬆的手法帶出有關升學及就業出路等資訊。

另外,EDUplus.com.hk亦將繼續出版更多增值書刊,除每月不同主題的《全方位進修系列》外,於暑假期間更出版《全方位副學士升學指南》,為中學畢業生提供升學資訊。該書詳列各大院校的副學士課程總覽及入學要求,更專訪校長、僱主及副學士學生,分享經驗和心得,是正在尋找出路的中五及中七生不可或缺的最佳參考書,極受學生、教師及家長歡迎。

「泛華發行」最新消息

「泛華發行」今年再次於香港書展參展,展出各類優質書籍,並獲多間機構贊助,共同推動閱讀文化;另外,「泛華發行」於今屆書展首度與「阿貓地攤」合作,推出主題為「我們的快樂時代」的圓領運動衣。得到入場人士的熱烈支持,「泛華發行」於本屆書展中再創佳績。

在台灣擁有廣大的讀者群的「鮮鮮文化」拓展發行網絡,而「泛華發行」榮獲「鮮鮮文化」的獨家代理權,在港澳發行其書籍。「鮮鮮文化」出版的書籍主要吸引年青人,其首次在本港發行的「夜不語系列」及《異少年歷》,甫推出即引發起一輪搶購潮。

星島海外快訊

今年夏季,《星島日報》海外辦事處參與了各式活動以宣揚中華文化。紐約辦事處於八月贊助了「第十六屆紐約香港龍舟節」,今次已是該分社連續第三年擔任該活動的獨家中文平面媒體贊助商。而《星島日報》倫敦辦事處則參與了「2006年雅士谷香港日」,該賽馬活動由香港賽馬會所舉辦,乃當地華人社區的一項年度盛事。另外,在悉尼的《星島日報》辦事處合辦了「2006年全澳中文朗誦比賽」以推動當地華人以及其他族裔人士進一步瞭解中國文化,今年共有超過3,100名人仕參賽,反應熱烈。

星島新聞集團頒發長期服務獎

星島新聞集團於八月一日舉行「長期服務獎頒獎典禮2006」以慶祝《星島日報》六十八年報慶,今年共有49名員工獲頒發「長期服務獎」,他們皆在公司服務達十年以上。其中一位得獎者,現任職財務總監的何耀祥先生說:「我在十年來經歷了不同的階段,每個階段都帶給我不同的經歷和體驗,而且集團業務不斷發展,使員工有很多機會在其專業範疇中拓展視野。」而集團行政總裁盧永雄先生在典禮中說:「集團的成功全賴各員工的貢獻,我希望藉今日的機會感謝各位長久以來對集團的支持,同時鼓勵大家再接再厲,共同為集團創建更豐盛的未來。」

星島新聞集團有限公司公佈二零零六年度中期業績報告

星島新聞集團有限公司於今年9月14日公佈其2006年度中期業績。本集團之綜合收入為約937.3百萬港元,相較去年同期上升9.6%,純利增加70%至約73.9百萬港元。扣除特殊及一次性項目後,本集團的核心業務純利為約56.8百萬港元,增幅達172%。本集團亦宣佈向股東派發中期股息每股2港仙。
