Charity Sale of Sichuan
Earthquake Memorial Publication
The Sichuan Earthquake Memorial Publication issued by Sing Tao News Corporation
received enormous support from the public during the charity sale from June to July.
Artistes supported the campaign by autographing it for online charity auction.
A total of HK$1,000,000 was raised and will be used to reconstruct the lives of the
children from the quake-stricken regions, as well as to provide them with educational
and psychological support. Mr. Lai Ting Yiu, Chief Executive Officer of Sing Tao Magazine
Group Limited and Publisher of East Week Magazine, and Mr. Chui Kwok Choi, Executive
Chief Editor of Sing Tao Daily, handed over the cheques to the representatives of the
United Nations Children's Fund, World Vision and "Artistes 512 Fund Raising Campaign"
on August 20.

and Activities from Sing Tao Education
Sing Tao Daily has released the upgraded version of "Sing Tao Education Portal" with web
pages including "Sing Tao Liberal Studies Portal", "Chinese for Teens", "Chinese for Kids",
"English for Teens" and "English for Kids". Packed with learning materials for Chinese, English
and Liberal Studies, the education portal is the most motivating interdisciplinary studies
website in Hong Kong and the best interactive learning platform.
With an aim to nurture young talents, Sing Tao Daily and The Standard continue to collaborate
with the Education Bureau to organize the "24th Sing Tao Inter-school Debating Competition".
Competition enrollment will commence on September 18. This renowned academic event has been
well-received by students and teachers in Hong Kong and has seen a constantly growing number of
applications from year to year. The number of competing teams will be increased to 172 this year,

Headline Daily Launches Saturday
Version on its 3rd Anniversary
Headline Daily's readership has surpassed 1,869,000 as it marks its 3rd
anniversary. The number of high quality readers has far exceeded its counterparts,
sustaining the number one position in Hong Kong. In July, a Saturday version has
hit the street. With an average circulation in excess of 700,000 copies, the Saturday
version conveys a multitude of news and information like the weekday version, and also
brings along weekend shopping tips to its readers. Moreover, celebrating the 3rd
anniversary, a thermal mug was offered to readers for redemption. The campaign was
extremely popular and the mugs were soon out of stock.

Sing Tao Daily has always been committed to providing a host of interesting
information to its readers. To cater to the tastes of different readers, Sing Tao Daily
has published a diverse range of general interest supplements, for instance, a series of
bilingual and well-illustrated cook books with different topics including "homemade",
"health" and "seasonal recipes" were distributed with its Sunday edition. In September,
Sing Tao Daily made an all-out effort to produce the limited- edition

Sing Tao Overseas Offices
In celebration of its 19th anniversary, Sing Tao Daily's Los Angeles Office
held a banquet on July 20. Over 600 guests were relished in delicacies, magic show
and performance of the famous Taiwanese singer Samuel Tai.
To welcome the long-awaited Beijing Olympic Games, the New York Office and the
Hong Kong Economic and Trade Offices, New York co-organized the "Beijing Olympics Celebration"
with Q&A contest and spectacular performances on August 8. And in honour of Hong Kong
co-hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events, an exhibition showcasing
Equestrian Events and information about the Games was staged from August 8-14. At the
same time, the San Francisco Office partnered with NBC Bay area Ch.11 and downtown
Redwood City to organize the "Beijing Olympic opening ceremony telecast and Night Market".
Nearly 3000 people assembled to bear witness to the historic opening ceremony of the
Beijing Olympic Games.
As in previous years, Sing Tao Daily's New York Office and London Office participated
in the annual "Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival" held on August 2-3 and "2008 London Hong Kong
Dragon Boat Festival" held on June 8, respectively.

Partakes in a String of Events
The Standard was involved in a number of media sponsorships and partnerships
in the second quarter of the year. It was the media sponsor and the official
English newspaper for several international expos, including the
"SMART Investment & International Property Expo" held at the
Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on June 21-22,
"The 22nd International Travel Expo" & "The 3rd Business Incentive Travel Expo"
held from June 12-15. These grand-scale events were well-attended by
overseas exhibitors and visitors, allowing The Standard to lift its profile
within the property and travel sectors.
Besides, The Standard acted as a media partner in human resources events,
including "30-Minute HR Conference" organized by HR Magazine,
"The 17th Amcham Human Resources Conference" hosted by
The American Chambers of Commerce and "The Annual Hong Kong HR Awards"
organized by Key Media. Through these events, The Standard's position
in the recruitment sector has been strengthened.
Moreover, The Standard was also active in education events. It acted as a
media sponsor in student activities like "Disney's High School Musical performance"
organized by The Extension and Continuing Education for Life and
"The 5th Inter-School Scrabble Championship 2008" co-organized by MATTEL

PC Market Stands Out at
Computer Festival
One of the largest annual events of the IT industry, the
"Hong Kong Computer & Communications Festival 2008" (HKCCF), was held from
August 22-26 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with an attendance
record of 520,000 visitors. This year, PC Market's booth was ingeniously designed
to offer visitors a myriad of entertaining experience in interactive games at
an "amusement centre" and in technology living at a "green HD home". The two special
booklets, "PC Security Perfect Book" and "My Diary photo album", which were unveiled
at the HKCCF were sold out before the exhibition drew to a close.
Meanwhile, PC Market has been given a brand new look to coincide with the HKCCF.
The magazine which now comprises two books, namely the PCM Advance and PCM Gears, brings
more in-depth information on computers and digital products to readers. PCM Advance
places more emphasis on DIY computer and software, so as to cater to the needs of the

70th Anniversary Celebration
In celebration of the 70th anniversary of Sing Tao Daily and to share
the joyous moment with all staff, a grand lucky draw was held on August 1.
The success of a
corporation does not come easy, as Mr. Lo Wing Hung, Chief Executive Officer of
the Group, said at the celebration ceremony, "Sing Tao Daily has a splendid history and the
glory goes to all the staff, without whom the newspaper could not have sailed through
the past seven decades.
Let us carry on striving to reach new heights for Sing Tao Daily and the Group's
other publications."
Indeed, the accomplishment of the Group depends very much on the commitment of
its people, thus the Long Service Awards presentation ceremony is held every year
to recognize the continued devotion of its staff. This year, 59 employees were honoured
for their sustained endeavours and enthusiasm to the Group. Among them,
Mr. Cheng Choi Yuen, Mr. Li Lung Chuen and Ms. Tse Yerk Lin have dedicated themselves
for 30 years. Mr. Cheng, who now works at the advertising department,
shared his work experience during the award presentation ceremony.
He said he had learnt a lot from his work throughout these years and he encouraged
all colleagues to take the initiative to serve the Group. Meanwhile, the

Sing Tao News Corporation Reports
Interim Results 2008
Sing Tao News Corporation Limited announced its interim results on September 4.
The Group reported consolidated revenue of HK$1,210.3 million, an increase of 13.6%
as compared with the revenue for the Previous Period of HK$1,065.6 million. Basic
earnings per share amounted to HK2.72 cents, and the Board has declared the payment
of an interim dividend of HK2.0 cents per share.
