"Sing Tao Inter-School Debating Competition" Concludes in Success
The "26th Sing Tao Inter-School Debating Competition ", co-organized by Sing Tao Daily, The Standard and the Education Bureau and sponsored by the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research and Centaline Property Agency Limited, held its grand final and award ceremony on May 20 at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium. Over 2,000 teachers, students, parents and other spectators were present to witness the invigorating debates and the emergence of South Tuen Mun Government Secondary School and South Island School as champions in the Chinese and English Section, respectively.
The ceremony was officiated by Mr Michael Suen-Secretary for Education, and the awards were presented by Ms. Wong Fung Yee-Member, Standing Committee on Language Education and Research and Ms. Sandia Lau-Director, Centaline Property Agency Limited. The judging panels comprised eminence figures including Prof. Ma Ngok-Associate Professor, Department of Government & Public Administration, The Chineses University of Hong Kong and Prof. Arthur Li Kwok-cheung-Emeritus Professor of Surgery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Other reputed judges included Mr. Peter Broe-Project Officer, Secondary Native-Speaking English Teaching Section, Education Bureau, Hon. Alan Leong-SC, Legislative Councilor, Ms. Ella Leung-Senior Instructor, English Language Teaching Unit, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Ms. Claudia Mo-Media Freelancer and Ms. Wong Fung Yee, who was also one of the award presenters.
