Smart Parents "HK Direct Subsidy Scheme Schools & Primary Schools Admission Expo" Draws Big Crowds
Organized by Smart Parents and supported by Sing Tao Daily and EDUplus.com.hk, the "HK Direct Subsidy Scheme Schools & Primary Schools Admission Expo" was held on August 20 – 21 at KITEC. Over 50 schools and related organizations participated in this first-ever local education expo, and the two-day event attracted more than 20,000 visitors. Apart from exhibition booths set up by different participating organizations, honorable guests from education service providers were invited as guest speakers, sharing with the audiences their insights on choice of schools and ways of education. Videos of six highlighted seminars were recorded and will be compiled into a DVD by Smart Parents. The DVD, together with the guidebook specially written for the Expo, will be made available for redemption in early October. Smart Parents has been well-received by parents since its launch, and has achieved an average circulation of 75,363 copies (Jan - Jun 2011). The number of its members has exceeded 60,000 in the first half of the year, setting a record high. |

Sing Tao Daily Offers Educational Events and Seasonal Recipes

The "27th Sing Tao Inter-School Debating Competition", jointly organized by Sing Tao Daily, The Standard and the Education Bureau, will soon begin. This annual competition aims at providing all-rounded training to students, improving their language, debating, analytical and organization skills. The competition also hopes to evoke students’ interest in social affairs. Under the implementation of the 334 New Academic Structures and the fine-tuning of Medium of Instruction Policy, the competition can serve as a highly effective teaching and learning platform. This year's competition consists of English and Chinese Sections, and is going to be held from November 2011 to May 2012. Application will be open to public in early October. In addition, Sing Tao Daily is going to launch an all-in-one school paper programme that covers learning materials for languages and liberal studies. Headline Daily Seizes Apple Daily's Market Share
With the addition of a new state-of-the-art machine at its printing plant in Tseung Kwan O, Headline Daily can now print as many as 1.5 million copies a day, increasing the capacity by almost one third. This makes Headline Daily's printing capacity the strongest in Hong Kong and increases its competitive edge in the market.
Since its launch in 2005, Headline Daily has revolutionalised the local media market. Its innovative business concept, rich content, sizeable circulation volume and quality distribution network have quickly made it the most widely-read newspaper in Hong Kong. According to Synovate Media Atlas (2011 Q2 Report), the readership of Headline Daily has hit 1,695,000, well ahead of other local newspapers and marking another record high.
The average circulation of Headline Daily has surpassed 900,000 copies in September, almost four times of Apple Daily's, thus capturing a significant market share from the latter. Headline Daily has published an advertisement in the same month to announce this remarkable achievement. In addition, as part of a promotion campaign, Headline Daily gave away free apples at high traffic spots, which created much excitement among readers.
Headline Daily continuously offers exclusive privileges and discounts to their readers as token of thanks for their support. Headline Daily Attracts Investors Among its Readers
Headline Daily not only has the highest readership among local newspapers, it has over 667,000 investors among its readers, which is seven times that of a paid financial newspaper in the market (93,000 investors among readers). In order to satisfy the demand of its high quality readers who are investors, Headline Daily has strengthened its content on finance and investment. In July, a dedicated Finance Section "Headline Finance" was introduced, opening a new page in the local financial news market. In August, an enhanced Headline Finance version has been made separately available by free distribution in securities firms, banks and commercial areas on transaction days.
In order to make news more handy to investors, the Headline Finance website has developed an iPhone application and an iPad flip-page application.
Headline Finance and its website headlinefinance.hk has taken advantage of their interactivity to organize a "Trueman Show" investment game, inviting celebrity Jim Chim and four investment talents to compete in the actual stock market. Readers were welcomed to advise participants online by leaving comments on their blogs. The game was completed on September 16.

In celebration of Sing Tao Daily’s anniversary, the Los Angles office invited more than 200 guests to the Sing Tao Daily 22nd Anniversary Gala. At the same time, 300 birthday cakes were given away to readers, sharing the joy of the newspaper’s anniversary. Sing Tao Daily New York Office was invited as the exclusive Chinese Newspaper for the "21st Annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival". Besides providing media coverage and publishing a special supplement, Sing Tao Daily also organized Summer Fun Fair for the public with fun filled activities including Dragon Boat DIY, special currency collection promotion and more.

PC Market Brings Technology to Everyday Life at "Computer & Communications Festival"
The annual highlight of the IT industry, the "Hong Kong Computer & Communications Festival 2011" (HKCCF) was held on August 19 – 22 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre which attracted more than 680,000 visitors. This year, PC Market emphasizes on "Living Technology Experience". Its iPad edition has been made available prior to the festival, and Tablets were provided at the booth for readers’ trial. The booth also included "Total 3D TV Experience" and "HP ePRINT" zones, letting visitors experience the latest technology on 3D TV and printer. Capsule vending machine was available on-site for visitors to win I.T. gifts. Two popular PCM booklets were unveiled for redemption at the HKCCF, namely "Android Super Handbook" and "iOS 5 Super Handbook", along with an Eastpak Tablet case as the combo gift.
