2011 "Leader of the Year" in Final Judging Stage
"Leader of the Year" is an annual event held by Sing Tao News Corporation Limited since 1994. Enthusiasm in the "27th Sing Tao Inter-School Debating Competition"
The annual "27th Sing Tao Inter-School Debating Competition" has got underway with enthusiastic response from schools. This year, a total of 180 teams will participate, including 124 teams in the Chinese section and 56 teams in the English section. At the competition's briefing seminar held in mid-November, debating talents and last year's winners shared their techniques and experiences with this year's participants. The competition's cycle has started and all the teams will contend over the next six months to vie for the finalists' positions.
To encourage the participation of more students and public, this year's competition will again include the "Most Improved School Award" and the "Best Motion Award". The public can submit motions for the debate online and motions adopted for the competition will earn two tickets to the Grand Final and the opportunity to win the "Best Motion Award". Sing Tao Overseas at a Glance
The "Sing Tao Expo", organized by the San Francisco office of Sing Tao Daily, was one of the annual attractions for local Chinese. The 2-day expo attracted more than 200 merchants and over 10,000 visitors. Apart from having fun, fabulous dining and shopping, a series of exciting competitions such as the "Dance Jam Competition" and "Mr. Sing Tao Contest" were held. On the other hand, the Sing Tao New York office organized the "1st Tai Chi Competition", which aimed to promote the benefits of Tai Chi practicing for overseas Chinese. Tai Chi masters were invited as adjudicators, and the event has attracted approximately 100 contestants in the presence of a thousand-strong audience.

Updates on The Standard
In the last couple of months, The Standard rolled out varies movie ticket promotion programs for its members. Two free tickets of "The Help", "Paranormal Activity 3", "I don't know how she does it", "A Little Bit of Heaven" and "The Rum Diary" were given away.

"HeadlineJobs Quality Workplace Index" is undertaken by HeadlineJobs and Public Opinion Programme at The University of Hong Kong. Since 2008, the index has been announced on a regular basis to provide employees, employers and human resources experts with the latest indicators. The index also allows employees to better understand the labour market by offering information on employees' satisfaction and their job movements. Its latest report – The Second Half of Year 2011 successfully interviewed 502 employees, with results showing that senior management personnel and professionals are becoming less satisfied with their jobs. The fall in job satisfaction among Gen Y staff is more evident, showing a decrease of 8 percentage points and hitting the failing level at 44%. This is due to a variety of factors, including management recognition, benefits and salary while career advancement opportunities, professional development, corporate culture, networking and job variety also play an influential role. |
